From Hibbing To Silver Bay

So it was that we packed up and left behind our first, pseudo-leg of the Winter Excursion there on Ruminant Lake and embarked on the True journey to the north shore that is only natural to Bell-Beaker's.

The entire road trip was accompanied by this years version of "Nice Comp"
and a new addition to the tradition: "Neat Mix".

We traveled East from Ruminant Lake and it so happened that we drove through a town called Hibbing. Interestingly enough, a very famous person was originally from Hibbing. Mike informed me of this fact. I had no idea.

Do you, oh simple reader, know who this famous person is, who was born right here in Minnesota, in the town of Hibbing?

That's right.
Tripwire.

You know, that lovably, bumbling, klutz of a G.I. Joe who is, ironically enough, an expert mine detector and bomb deactivater!

He's from Hibbing MN. Pretty cool huh?
I didn't believe it at first, but Mike called his brother on his cell phone.
And his brother confirmed this fact for us.

As you can see in the photo above,
Tripwire's birthplace is indeed Hibbing Minnesota.
Who knew? A famous person from Hibbing Minnesota.
What are the odds?

Eventually we made it to Silver Bay, the New York Harbor of the Minnesota North Shore. As you can see, we were greeted by Silver Bay's majestically towering version of the Statue of Liberty, "Rocky Taconite"

Here's a view of Rocky in all his liberty-filled splendor, welcoming us huddled, poor, masses to the "new world" of the iron range, to hopefully spend the rest of our days underground, mining iron rich ore.

Below we can see mike prostrating himself before Rocky's iron-rich fount of freedom. A tradition known to the Bell-Beakers as "Getting Rocky's Rocks Off".

Ironically the iron-rich fount tasted more salty
(probably from road salt) than it did irony.

And so, with the salty taste of irony now on Mike's lips
we drove onward to the greatest of all possible Bell-Beaker experiences:

...Palisade Head.
